(IN PHOTOS) Fake independence

published in The Philippines Online Chronicles, Monday, 16 June 2014

Last June 12, as the Philippine government commemorated the 116th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence, different organizations took to the streets to protest the Aquino administration’s puppetry, patronage politics and the pork barrel system.

The day-long protest was participated in by some 6,000 protesters led by umbrella group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan and the #abolishpork movement.

The protesters assembled early in TM Kalaw before marching towards the US Embassy in Manila.

No independence, no genuine freedom.
