Bayan Muna’s unexplainable plunge (from 12.3% to 8.4%) casts considerable alarm. not to mention the ‘magical’ leap of the rating of the #2 party-list (from a mere 4.7% to 8.2%). surprise, surprise! #2 party-list has also reportedly been circulating press releases as of yesterday that they will top the party-list polls. ehem, ehem.
what’s up with this? Anakpawis – from 6.8% to 2.7%; Gabriela – from 6.9% to 3.9%. something definitely stinks.
does this have something to do with the Panganiban formula? according to this rule, only the #1 party-list gets to seat 3 representatives in Congress. the rest will still win 1 seat with 2% of total votes cast but to gain the 2nd seat garnered votes should be at least half of the total votes cast for the #1 party-list.
methinks the latest survey results may be another cheap ploy to threaten Bayan Muna’s top post; and consequently Gabriela, Anakpawis and other progressive party-lists’ 2nd seats IF the Panganiban formula is to be implemented.
i would also like to deliver a shout-out for our sister party-list Suara Bangsamoro. let us place representatives for the truly marginalized sectors in Congress. dump the Palace-funded party-lists. dump the likes of mike defensor and prospero pichay and other Arroyo senatoriables.
